A Story.....
Some years back, at the annual Walk On AIDS, I came to know an incredible family known to me then as Team Michael. Soon I would have the pleasure of getting to know Team Michael as Pat Hughes, Pat's wife Jackie and family members.
This family walked and raised pledge dollars at the Walk On AIDS targeting their pledge dollars to A.I.D.S., INC. Each member of Team Michael wore a t-shirt with a picture of Pat's & Jackie's son Michael on the front and brought to each Walk high energy, caring & support. Every year they have Walked they have challenged themselves and others to raise more money and invest time to support our local event.
These individuals recognize the importance of our Walk. Participating organizations that benefit from the Walk are local non-profits in the Greater New Bedford and Fall River areas which is where the money will be spent on direct services to individuals with HIV/AIDS. the money is raised locally and spent locally.
The support from this family at the Walk is incredible but by their standards isn't yet enough.
Come this June 23rd at the Portuguese American Social Club of So. Dartmouth (25 Columbia St.) Team Michael is hosting their first Annual Team-Michael Clam Boil. There will be three seating's-1PM,3PM,5PM. Tickets are $25.00 per person. A.I.D.S., INC. is receiving ALL the proceeds from this fundraising event. There will be music, great food, raffles, and very importantly... you will get to meet members of Team Michael and me (jim). I will be in attendance doing what I need to do to help and to recognize the support of so many folks!
