Recognizing not only the needs of others
but the gifts that so many possess.

The newspaper copies above make two bold statements. The top photo was one of the most controversial advertising campaigns by United Colors of Benetton 1982. "The Death of David Kirby". A young man in hospice surrounded by family as his battle with AIDS was being won by the disease.

Beneath that photo is a young man lying on the ground chained to the front doors of a Federal Building demanding Federal funds for AIDS Services.

At the beginning of the Epidemic individuals fought for services.
The services that are being lost to budget cuts today were not handed out... they were fought for. Many times these acts of defiance resulted in jail time, beatings, and loss of personal well being.
Those who presently reap the benefits need to remember what it cost and what happened to the individual infected with the Virus we now call AIDS.
Because these photos were copied from a magazine, previously copied from a newspaper the clarity is poor... but what
is clear is what transpired and what came from such tragedies the AIDS Epidemic has inflicted upon generations. A.I.D.S., INC. was born in the midst of this tragedy.
2014 will mark our 25th year as a voluteer AIDS Service Organization.
Our Mission remains focused on emergency financial assistance to individuals who are HIV positive or have AIDS. (define it as you wish).
Many friendships have been made throughout the years. Ordinary Individuals doing Extraordinary Things have supported our efforts and many continue to do so today.
We hope that those we have come to know and those we are yet to meet will join us on our continuing mission.
We plan to make 2014 a year of celebration.
Celebrating the Ordinary Individuals.....us & you.

Every 47 minutes a woman tests positive for HIV in the United States.

more than 290,000 women in the United States are living with HIV

by 2016 over half of new infections will be in the over 50 bracket.

This is a health risk to everyone- man, woman, child.

Now in it's 30th year, the HIV/AIDS epidemic is graying.

One quarter of all people with HIV/AIDS in this country are 50 and older (2011).

This number is increasing each year.

A serious problem persists since many doctors do not discuss or ask patients in this age group about his/her sexual behaviour or drug use.

Aging..... a natural process that is acompanied by typical age related disease. These disease are increased by HIV.

Cardiovascular disease
Cancer
Cognitive issues
Multiple meds

It has always been said that HIV/AIDS does not discriminate,
this includes age at time of infection.

no matter the age

unprotected sex can result in HIV infection.
